Software Upgrades: Software upgrades occur when the software that controls the functionality of your site becomes outdated. Software Upgrades are not mandatory, however we always encourage our customers to keep their software upgraded to the latest version to insure full browser compatibility. We'll notify you that an upgrade is available as well as the cost to install the upgrade. If you keep your site current then Software Upgrades are usually pretty inexpensive (under $40), but if you allow your software to become antiquated the charge can be higher depending on the work that will be involved to bring the site and your data current and compliant again. In a case like this, we'll provide a quote and wait for your approval, before we commence with any upgrade changes.
Security Updates: Many times a site needs security changes due to changes of browsers, SQL injection attack protection or for other reasons. We typically send out notices for these if they are critical. You have the option not to choose to update the security, however your site will be at risk and if attacked by a robot or hacker, the costs can be quite high to fix damage that may be done as a cause of the attack. The security updates are not full proof, but they do address known problems with security as they are identified by the development team. Most security updates are free of charge, but we still ask your permission to do the update. On rare occassions security updates may cost about $15 or $25 if they are very involved updates, but this is rare.
